Golden Globes Phelps-A-Thon
Fred Phelps’ clan is coming to Los Angeles! The “God Hates Fags” 
Westboro Baptist Church is planning to picket the Golden Globes with their awful anti-gay message.
However, when the Phelps group comes to Los Angeles to protest, they will actually be raising money for LGBT equality and understanding!
We are hosting a Phelps-A-Thon to 
counter Fred Phelps’ hateful message. For every minute the “God Hates Fags” clan is protesting, we will be collecting donations to benefit Pride at Work L.A., an organization which seeks full equality for LGBT workers in their workplaces and their unions.
The Phelps clan will be protesting at the event for 2 hours (120 minutes), from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on January 17th. You can pledge any amount you chose, whether it be $0.25, $0.50, $1, or even $2 for every minute they protest. You can even pledge a flat rate for the entire time the group will be demonstrating. The point of this Phelps-A-Thon is two fold. First, we are using Phelps’ own hateful message to raise funds for a good cause, one that will help counter the lies that are being spread about LGBT people. Second, After the event, we will send Phelps a thank you card, telling him how much money he raised for LGBT equality. This will certainly upset the group and it is possible that they will stop protesting in order to stop our fundraising.
During a three month trek across the United States in an effort to promote LGBT equality, Chris Mason, Founder of Phelps-A-Thon.com, stopped in Topeka, Kansas to visit the Westboro Baptist Church. He sat down for a conversation with Shirley Phelps, the daughter of Fred Phelps and new leader of the group to get a better understanding of why the groups feels the need to spread hate.
On the “God Hates Fags” website, Phelps has this to say about the upcoming protest at the event:
“Beverly Hilton Hotel - Golden Globe idolatry symbol of rebel 9876 Wilshire Boulevard WBC will be on hand to address these really savvy, cutting edge rebels. You turkeys helped put the Beast Obama in the White House, and shortly all of your antics will come to an end. The last thing in the whole world you will be interested in is going to a movie, a theatrical performance, an awards ceremony or down the street to get a cup of coffee. Pick up the newspaper, or look on your computer for that matter. God HATES DOOMED america. We have been telling you about this for almost twenty years, and the entire time you have been mocking us. LITERALLY! God is mocking you right back, stupids. It is our duty to tell you about it. Psalm 35:11 False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not. 12 They rewarded me evil for good to the spoiling of my soul. 13 But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom. 14 I behaved 
myself as though he had been my friend or brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother. 15 But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: yea, the abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not: 16 With hypocritical mockers in feasts, they gnashed upon me with their teeth. Yes, that's what you did/do to WBC. Now look at what God's doing and going to do to each one of you personally: Isaiah 28:17 Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place. 18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it. 19 From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a vexation only to understand the report. 20 For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch himself on it: and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself in it. 21 For the LORD shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act. 22 Now therefore be ye not mockers, lest your bands be made strong: for I have heard from the Lord GOD of hosts a consumption, even determined upon the whole earth. We can turn these hateful words into positive change.
